Kindergarten Update

KINDERGARTEN

The Kindergarten Readiness Act (SB 1381) changed the required age to enter kindergarten. To enroll in Kindergarten:

For the 2013–14 school year, children must turn five by October 1st; For the 2014–15 school year, and each school year thereafter, children must turn five September 1st.

  • We will accept Kindergarten registration packets at students’ home schools beginning March 12, 2013 for students who will turn five on or before October 1st, 2013.
  • Children who turn 5 by October 1st will be enrolled in kindergarten.

TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN

For the 2013-14 school year, Newark Unified School District will offer Transitional Kindergarten, which is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program, for students whose birthdays occur after the kindergarten entry cutoff date (October 1 in 2013-14), and on or before December 2nd. Students who enroll in Transitional Kindergarten will enroll in Kindergarten the following year. Transitional Kindergarten will be offered at Lincoln Elementary School, and, depending on the numbers of students who enroll, possibly another Newark elementary site.

  • LincolnElementary School(36111 Bettencourt St., Newark, CA., 818-3500) will accept Transitional Kindergarten registration packets beginning March 12, 2013 for students who will turn five between October 2nd, 2013 and December 2nd, 2013.
  • Lincoln Elementary School will also collect Transitional Kindergarten Student Information forms for children who turn five between December 3rd and January 31st, who will be placed on a waiting list for possible openings in Transitional Kindergarten. There is no guarantee of placement in Transitional Kindergarten for children who are not five on or before December 2nd. However, these children may be admitted into Transitional Kindergarten on a space-available basis. Transitional Kindergarten Student Information forms will be dated, time-stamped, and kept on file until it is determined if there is space available to accommodate additional children in Transitional Kindergarten. Such notification will not be made until after September 6th, 2013.

Kínder (Kindergarten)

El Acta de Preparación del Kínder (SB 1381), modificó la edad requerida para entrar al kindergarten. Para inscribirse en Kindergarten:

Para el año escolar 2013–14, los niños deben de cumplir cinco años antes del 1 de octubre; Para el año escolar 2014–15, y cada año después, los niños deben de cumplir cinco antes del 1 de septiembre.

§ Se aceptarán paquetes de inscripción del kínder en las escuelas base de los estudiantes a partir del 12 de marzo 2013 para los estudiantes que cumplirán cinco años después del 01 de octubre 2013.

 

§ Los niños que cumplirán cinco años para el 1 de octubre serán inscritos en el kínder.

 

El Kínder Transicional

Para el año escolar 2013-14, El Distrito escolar Unificado de Newark va ofrecer El Kínder Transicional, que es el primer año del programa de el kínder que es un programa de dos años, para los cumpleañeros ser posterior a la fecha de corte de entrada kindergarten (1 de octubre en 2013-14), y en o antes del 2 de diciembre. Los estudiantes que se matriculan en el Kínder Transicional se inscribirán en Kínder el próximo año. El Kínder Transicional se ofrecerá en la escuela primaria de Lincoln, y dependiendo de la cantidad de estudiantes que se matriculan, posiblemente otra escuela primaria en Newark.

§ Escuela Primaria de Lincoln (36111 Bettencourt St., Newark, CA., 818-3500) aceptará paquetes de inscripción del Kínder Transicional a partir del 12 de marzo 2013 para los estudiantes que cumplirán cinco entre 02 de octubre 2013 y 2 de diciembre de 2013.

 

§ Escuela Primaria de Lincoln también recogerá las formas de información sobre el estudiante del programa de Kínder Transicional para los niños que cumplen cinco entre 03 de diciembre y 31 de enero, que será colocado en una lista de espera por sea caso que tengan espacio en el Kindergarten Transicional. No hay ninguna garantía de colocación en el programa de el kínder transicional para los niños que no tengan cinco años en o antes del 2 de diciembre. Sin embargo, estos niños pueden ser admitidos en Kindergarten Transicional si ay espacio disponible. Las formas de información del estudiante del programa tendrán la fecha, con indicación de tiempo, y se mantiene en el archivo hasta que se determine si hay espacio disponible para acomodar a más niños en Kindergarten Transicional. Esta notificación no se hará hasta después de 06 de septiembre 2013.
